Personal Learning Network on Pinterest

I was occasionally find this site when I was almost finish my final paper.
After I explore this site for a little while, I was shocked that PLN could be such fabulous and appealing.  With so many beautiful picture, I am keen to re-awaken interest in the tools people used to create their PLN.
Such PLN is just like Blogger and different posts have its own cover image. This little innovation could significantly appeal the visitors.

Web 2.0 Trend

I have read a very good article about the future of the web.
Here is the link, http://webtrends.about.com/od/Social-Media-Evolution/a/The-Future-Of-The-Web.htm

A few terms have really drawn my attention.
First, big data. I have read a named Big Data:A Revolution That Will Transform How We Live, Work, and Think,b. After reading this book, I know we are in a world of big data. The big data correlations change what we do in daily life and business are already adapting to the big data. Although, education is different from business and you can hardly explain my psychological activity and learning process. However, by using big data, you could easily do the need analysis, in other words, instructors could easily get the information about what students need and want to learn even without any explanation.

Another term is meaningful web. Imagine in the future, our daily activities are heavily relied on Web 3.0 technologies. Our instructors was highly possible will give each student a tablet and nearly all the learning activities will be completed by using these technologies. I have already seen my classmates's products about using Google Map.

So far, my initial understanding of Big Data and meaningful we could hardly help me collect data and design the instructional design. But I will keep regarding the development of big data in Web 2.0 or Web 3.0 in my life and my study.

The Internet censorship in China

Two years ago, when I was in college, I usually  read the New York Times in the morning. Then one day suddenly I found New York Times was blocked. I decided to use proxy to log in my Facebook to figure out why our government blocked New York Times.
Some foreign friend and my Chinese friends who studied in America informed me a breaking new.

New York Times was not just post a normal family tree. The whole article describe the Wen family empire in detail including each family member's wealth, which was a very sensitive issue in China.  Premier Wen won with a clean image and promise to dealing with corruption, finance and the economy.

Live coverage on breaking news events has been a routine method in major world media like CNN and BBC, which however is a brand-new thing in China. Moreover, such news were exactly offend China center government's sensibilities.

The reasons why China blocked social medias like Twitter and Facebook are multifaceted. First, these media always could generate some so-called rumor in China. Second, these social median could spread news in very fast speed which is really difficult for government to censor them.  Third, officially, the Chinese government permit watchdog journalism, known as "supervision by public opinion," but in practice new outlets are wary of offending local party official.
Here is an example:
China quake school critic receives one-year sentence-group
And all the social medias, which are not under control of Chinese government, will never get chance to get approved to enter China market.

Here is link: http://yionlinehistory.wikispaces.com/home

I planned to use Yahoo Pipes as the core elements of my performance support project. However, it's to difficult to use Yahoo Pipes proficiently. Thus, I decided to use wikispaces because I visit the EME 6414 wikispaces which is really helpful.

The former Assignment--Instructional design was designed for world history and students need to completed several assignments by the end of the course.  This wiki aims to provide necessary learning modality, resource, tools that is accessible and applicable at the moment of need. Students are allowed to visit and edit this wiki during the teaching span. Students could use this wiki as electronic job-aids.
